Sekuwa (सेकुवा)
About Sekuwa (सेकुवा)
Sekuwa is a popular Nepali meat dish, traditionally made from mutton, but also prepared with buffalo, chicken, or pork. It involves marinating meat with herbs and spices and then grilling or roasting it over a wood fire. This flavorful dish is a staple at gatherings, festivals, and is widely available at roadside eateries and restaurants throughout Nepal.

History
Sekuwa's origins are deeply rooted in Nepal's indigenous communities, particularly the Limbu people of eastern Nepal. Historically, it was a method of preserving meat, where it was marinated and dried by the fire. Over time, this method evolved into the delicious, smoky, grilled dish we know today. While its roots lie in rural practices, Sekuwa has gained nationwide popularity and become a symbol of Nepali culinary heritage, enjoyed by people from all walks of life. Its simplicity in preparation and reliance on natural cooking methods reflect the cultural values and culinary traditions of Nepal's diverse ethnic groups.
