Black Eyed Peas (Bodi) - 1 cupOnion - 1 mediumGinger - 1 inchGarlic - 2 clovesGreen Chilies - 2-3Cumin Seeds - 1 tspTurmeric Powder - 1/2 tspCoriander Powder - 1 tspSalt - To tasteCooking Oil - For deep fryingCoriander Leaves - 2 tbspRice flour - 2 tbsp

Learn step by step to prepare Black Eyed Peas Fritters

    Soak the black-eyed peas in water overnight or for at least 6-8 hours.

    Drain the soaked peas and grind them coarsely using a grinder or food processor. You can also use mortar and pestle.

    Finely chop the onion, ginger, garlic, green chilies, and coriander leaves.

    Add the chopped ingredients to the ground peas along with cumin seeds, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well.

    Add 2 tbsp of rice flour for crispiness, then mix well. Add water little by little to get a thick batter. Do not over add water

    Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadai over medium heat. Check oil is heated by adding a tiny drop of batter. If it bubbles up it's ready

    Take a spoonful of batter and gently drop it into the hot oil. Do not over crowd.

    Fry the fritters until they turn golden brown and crispy on all sides. Flip the sides to make them cook properly

    Remove the fritters from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

    Serve hot with tomato chutney or pickle.
